EU Commission in Conference for maritime security conference in Gibraltar
As from today for two days we have a conference
about Maritime Security in Gibraltar. It is amazing that we are so willing to
host this conference in Gibraltar - but yet not tackle or highlight how the
Spanish Guardia Civil incursions in our waters and how it causes a great
security and public safety issue in our waters!
I am all for progress and conferences
but maybe in this conference our Police Commissioner should highlight what the Spanish
Para military personnel get up to and the threat they are to the security of
our waters and to human life - specifically as they are armed in our waters
without the relevant licences!
Our Commissioner should emphasise the
importance of respecting each Country’s laws and jurisdiction but yet be able
to work together as and when needed. The behaviour we see from another EU
country lilke Spain should never be tolerated or expected. Spain should be used
in this conference as an example of how an EU country SHOULD NOT BEHAVE!
This conference should be used to embarrass
Spain and also embarrass the EU and UK Government on the lack of appropriate
action! The example should be used to show how diplomacy does fail under the EU
maritime and security and how EU cannot turn a blind eye to this behaviour!
Wake EU Maritime and Security!
Wake up UK Government! Time to get your
acts together and less talking and more action!

SENIOR EU COMMISSION OFFICIAL TO
ADDRESS GIB LAW SUMMIT
A senior official from the European Commission will be among the speakers at an international law enforcement conference being held in Gibraltar this week.
Christian Dupont, Deputy Head of the Land and Maritime Security Unit at the Mobility and Transport Directorate in Brussels, will address police delegates from across Europe on EU maritime security initiatives.
Mr Dupont will be one of over a dozen speakers at the annual two-day conference of the European Association of Airport and Seaport Police, which starts at the Caleta Hotel on Tuesday.
Topics that will be covered range from intelligence-led law enforcement and social media to investigating crime in Africa.
The speakers are drawn from both government agencies and the private sector, and include a speaker from the Moroccan Special Branch.
Delegates at the conference will include senior law enforcement officers whose role is to ensure the security of transport infrastructure around Europe.
The conference comes at a time when the threat of terrorism has once again been pushed into the limelight by the recent bombings in Boston.
Its underlying aim is to learn from experiences which are fundamental to continually raising standards in the way that ports across Europe are policed.
As well as the presentations, there will also be related workshops which will test delegates across a range of challenging and evolving scenarios in both the maritime and aviation arenas.
This is the fourth time that the conference is held in Gibraltar and a large number of delegates are expected to attend.
The EAASP seeks to promote international cooperation and advises European and international policy makers on matters related to posts policing.
The Executive Committee works closely with the European Commission and is active in working groups on both the maritime and aviation fields.
Eddie Yome, the Commissioner of the Royal Gibraltar Police, is currently the EAASP’s Vice President for Aviation.
The conference will close with a gala dinner hosted by the Government of Gibraltar at St Michael’s Cave.
Commissioner Yome expressed his delight in welcoming the conference to Gibraltar and pointed out that the hard work carried out by members of the association was vital in the fight against terrorism.

Come on people of Gibraltar we all need to start to stand up to the lack of action by the UK Government and the EU - Spain should not come into our waters or violate our laws at sea!
We all need to start seeing the hypocrisy of appeasing to Spain - are we all waiting for an accident or a death at sea before we get our act together!
I wish I could say I am delighted at the stance being take by all t hose in authority in protecting our waters! But I am not I am flabbergasted by the lack of action by all those who should resolve these incursions - Navy - Police and UK Government!
