Spanish Guardia Civil Stop Works in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters ! UK Government and FCO and Governor and Gibraltar Government need to clarify who is in charge of our waters?

Once again the bullying from Spanish Government goes up one more level! No matter how many protests - no matter how many complaints to Madrid Government from UK Government it makes no difference!

Spanish Para Military who are armed and trained as highly as the SAS once again enter Gibraltar Territorial Waters and enforces Jurisdiction! They remained unchallenged! No help from Royal Navy - No help from Military Defence Police! No Governor to be seen and no FCO to be seen or heard!

So not only do we have daily incursions in our waters by this paramiliatry Guardia Civil, not only do we have their spanish fishermen fishing with illegal means not even accepted in their own country, not only do they shoot at our people on Jet Skis - now they interfere with what we want to do in preserving our own SEA LIFE!

How weak has our Governor, FCO and UK Government become? How weak is our Government voice in being heard in UK, EU or United Nations? 

EU interfere to help SPAIN and Morocco make a fishing deal but have the audacity not to intervene in the bullying tactics that we all suffer daily!

Our own people starting to fear in enjoying our own sea activities! Our own Police doing little to counter and protect us the people and enforce the laws! 

The question has to be asked and echoed throughout the world - WHY IS THE UK GOVERNMENT NOT PROTECTING THE INTEGRITY OF OUR WATERS!

THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TODAY:

GUARDIA CIVIL STOP CONTRACTOR WORKING IN BRITISH GIBRALTAR WATERS TAKEN ON BY THE GIBRALTAR GOVERNMENT TO CREATE REEFS. GSLP ADMINISTRATION SAID THEY WILL TAKE WHATEVER ACTION IS NECESSARY AND MAKE ANOTHER COMPLAINT TO UK GOVERNMENT.

The Government announced the creation of reefs in different parts of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters (BGTW) as part of its marine protection strategy when it published the fishing report.

These reefs will increase biodiversity and provide refuge for many marine species.

Contractors licensed by and working for the Ministry for the Environment were laying concrete blocks this morning in order to create one such reef between the western tip of the runway and the North Mole. The initial works were programmed to end at mid-day with the arrival of a cruise liner.

Seventeen minutes before mid-day, a Guardia Civil patrol boat obstructed the contractor and prevented the completion of the work, with only a proportion of the concrete blocks having been laid. The contractor was questioned by the Guardia Civil inside BGTW. This amounts to executive action being taken by the Guardia Civil in BGTW.

Given that it had to stop working by midday anyway, the contractor stopped carrying out the works.

The Government takes a most serious view of this incident. It is totally unacceptable that a fully licensed Government contractor going about a lawful activity should be questioned and prevented from working by a law enforcement agency of a foreign country. The United Kingdom Government is aware of the incident and the GoG expects that they should take the matter up at the highest level. The Government will take whatever action is necessary in order to ensure that its policies are not interfered with in this or any other way. No6 said it will not tolerate any attempt to impede its jurisdiction and control over any part of Gibraltar on land or at sea. Works will continue as and when required.

Is the UK Government making a joke of our Government? YES

Is the UK Governments making a joke of the Royal Navy? YES

Is the UK Government and FCO and our Governor just making a joke of us as a people and a country in our own Right? YES

With such a weak stand against the bully that SPAIN is - does it really surprise us that they are getting bolder in their attacks to us?

They have entered our land and sea armed - nothing done - only a protest to Madrid at the so called highest level! This is the real joke!

What a farce! Why the heck do we tolerate this! We should be going out in masses to speak out and get our voices heard!

We have a RIGHT, We have a CHOICE and a VOICE! Let us all start to protest in all ways we can! 

 But the time for action is now nearer as words are being lost in the wind of DIPLOMACY AND APPEASEMENT!

UK Govt stands by its constitutional commitments to the people of Gibraltar

In response to the Chief Minister’s letter to David Cameron following last month’s jet ski incident,  Picardo has now received a reply from the Prime Minister.
In his letter, Cameron says that he ‘was very concerned by reports of the incursion’ and that he raised this directly with the Prime Minister of Spain. ‘I made clear to Prime Minister Rajoy that the reported actions of the Guardia Civil were unacceptable and that the Spanish Government should urgently investigate what happened.’
‘I agree that the jet ski incident must be seen in a wider context in which Spanish incursions have increased substantially since March 2012,’ added Cameron. ‘I assure you that the UK Government will meet its constitutional commitments to the people of Gibraltar and will not compromise on sovereignty.’
The letter ends with Cameron thanking the Chief Minister for his support, particularly at the Pre-G8 Summit. ‘I should like to close by thanking you warmly for the strong commitment that Gibraltar has given to the G8 trade, tax and transparency agenda. Your support was an important factor in the success of the Lough Erne Summit.’
In response,  Picardo said, ‘I am pleased that the Prime Minister has taken a strong line on the jet ski incident. Mr Cameron’s letter is further proof of the British Government’s unequivocal commitment to our sovereignty.’
