Defenders of Gibraltar - spreading the word about the bullying from Spain - Great Meet and Greet even with Phil Taylor the Darts World Champion!
The committee of the Defenders of Gibraltar have been very busy indeed. Busy standing up for our rights and getting our voice heard internationally!After ensuring we had broken into the UK media the rest of the world was easier. Never before have so many people worldwide known so much about all the bullying we have to put up with!
On Saturday 29th June that is exactly what they continued to do for Gibraltar.
We the committee held a very successful MEET and GREET at the Piazza. Here we had a great opportunity to speak to the public and tourist alike and found more than ever before the great support we had!
We had such a diversity of people - local residents, visitors and cross frontier workers. The amazing thing is that people were so open and not only thanked us and encouraged us all to keep up the great work but in fact raised issues and gave some great ideas!
My surprise is that everyone wanted to sign another petition to get our plight heard. However, everyone loved the information we gave out and were amazzed at how much we have done.
I guess our momentum was over taken when we had PHIL TAYLOR - the WORLD DARTS CHAMPION visit us and spend time talking t us and yes even posing with us. He was very supportive and he had a great love for our country and our people! Thank you Phil!
We also had an opportunity that arose from a tourist who writes a traveling magazine who did an on the spot interview on what we were all about. I think our Chairman was shocked at the instant interview request!

We had a chance to make our VOICE heard with actions in the street AND speaking out.
It was encouraging to experience so much support - we even had visits from our very busy Government who made a point to come and visit us and encourage us all to keep up our good work! We had visits from Our Chief MInister Fabian Picardo, his wife Justine and his son, We had Samantha Sacramento, John Cortes, Neil Costa and Gilbert Licudi to name a few!
We even had a visit from Bryan Zammitt and Nick Cruz the 2 independant candidates running for the by election at the moment in Gibraltar.
So all in all a very busy morning, challenging but exciting and what a great motivator was the many people of Gibraltar who spared the time to offer support and help out in many ways.
Thank you Gibraltar as we are working in our Defending for our Country together!
Thank you to all the tourists who stopped to ask and exchanged details so that they could support us in Germany, UK, France, Belgium, America, etc.
