Spain is actually wanting an international Incident! Why is the Spanish warship interfering with Gibraltar shipping?

Is Spain actually wanting an international Incident?

With all the current crisis with Ukraine, Syria and Gaza - does Spain not realise that the United Nations Security Council has more than enough to deal with?

Why would a country that is in NATO and in the European Union start to challenge in International Waters?

Well the answer is pretty easy and clear - once a bully sees he can get away with something it is proven the bullying will become worse! This will continue until the bully is stopped and the boundaries reiterated!

Until in this case Spain suffers consequences and embarrassments worldwide this bully will continue to bully in ways it thinks it can get away with.

Well if you had a mother like UK is behaving at tis moment in time of course the bully will do more!

The UK Government, the FCO and the EU really need to start acting and less talking!

The whole reason that that the wars and challenges continue are simply that these institutions are weak and by doing nothing are actually partakers of the was happening! So just in the same way by UK Government and the FCO doing nothing they are in fact relinquishing their accountability and responsibility towards Gibraltar and its people!

This is totally unconstitutional and an inhumane way to act! Our FCO department in Gibraltar and our Majesty the Queen's representative our Governor Sir James Dutton needs to wake up and do THEIR job!

This is to a request or a plea we are now demanding what is rightfully our to demand - nothing new!

Gibraltar and its people are fed up of the recurring words and summoning! - Unless you start to do action it will mean NOTHING!

Nowhere in the world does any other country tolerate action like Spain does to Gibraltar! Spain is escalating her bullying tactics - first simple Spanish Para military incursions in British Gibraltar Territorial Waters - then the interference with law enforcement in our waters - then shooting at a jet ski with two young lads with so called rubber bullets! Then the border queues - first 1 hour - then 2, then 4 right up to 8 hours in the scorching heat last summer!

It does not stop there - then the negative and hateful campaigning against the People of Gibraltar leading to a rise in Fascist groups! An increase in hateful media in which even in Spanish School plays they have done shows of shooting Gibraltarians and the teachers and parents just laugh it off!

Then they escalate to further promote that Gibraltar is a smuggling and drug haven - yet they have more corruption and drug money and contraband going on than Gibraltar could do in millions of years!

We in Gibraltar demand that our UK Government stop doing nothing and start to do action - there has to be consequences to Spain on their blatant disregard of the fact that Gibraltar belongs to the Gibraltarians who wish to remain BRITISH!

UK Government need to start showing Spain that they cannot continue - start by stopping any English Military ships stopping at any Spanish places. No more ROTA for example!

Start advising British citizens that they should avoid going to Spain on holidays as UK cannot guarantee their safety anymore! Stop investing in SPAIN!

IF Spain close the border like they threaten to do - let them as it contravenes NATO and what EU stand for!

But to continue to do nothing will lead to another incident like Argentina with the Falklands!

Spanish warship interferes with Gibraltar shipping
*SPECIAL by JOE GARCIA

A Spanish warship was yesterday interfering with Gibraltar shipping, which raises the question of what needs to happen before the UK Government takes a robust stand, as everyone including the recent House of Commons Foreign Affairs Report have been recommending.

The Commander British Forces in Gibraltar, the Ministry of Defence in London and the UK Government are perceived as doing nothing effective to protect the British Gibraltar waters, to the extent that only yesterday the Voice of Gibraltar Group issued a statement saying: “In return for rent free facilities and other benefits, HMG assumes responsibility for the defence of the territory. The perception locally is that this is not being done robustly enough, evidenced by the never ending incursions and recent theft of Gibraltar property by foreigners.”

And yesterday a Spanish naval vessel was interfering with Gibraltar shipping, now as if the Strait of Gibraltar come under Spanish sovereign control. This is an extremely serious development, because under international convention, shipping must be allowed unimpeded passage in international waters.

When PANORAMA heard about it, we immediately asked The Convent about it.

This is the reply we obtained: “The Foreign and Commonwealth Office is aware that a Spanish Naval vessel was issuing instructions to two commercial vessels in international waters - this constitutes a breach of the law and they will take this up with the Spanish Government.”

No doubt the Foreign Office will take its time before they react, as is usually the case, and when they do react, they will hand over another useless piece of paper at the Spanish foreign ministry which, as has been seen over the years, will have no effect whatsoever.

This is the way that those responsible for looking after Gibraltar’s defence and foreign affairs behave. Under the Gibraltar Constitution, the UK Government has accepted the solemn task of being responsible for Gibraltar’s defence and foreign affairs.

But people are asking: Is Britain fulfilling its solemn obligations to the people of Gibraltar?

FRONTIER
Meanwhile, people on the Spanish queue into Gibraltar yesterday were being asked if they were carrying any money.

Spanish Ambassador summoned - Cameron tells Rajoy there cannot be a repeat of last summer's queues

Author: GBC
Date: 17 July 2014

The Foreign Office has summoned the Spanish Ambassador to the UK to underline serious concern at the activity of a Spanish Navy vessel in international waters off Gibraltar yesterday.

This morning the Panorama & Chronicle newspapers reported that the Spanish Navy issued instructions to at least two commercial vessels heading for the Port of Gibraltar, dissuading them from doing so.

This is the fifth time the Spanish Ambassador has been publicly summoned in relation to Gibraltar since the current Spanish government took office in December 2011.

FCO STATEMENT ON TRILLO SUMMONING & CAMERON COMMENTS

The full statement by the FCO is available here:

The FCO summoned the Spanish Ambassador to the UK to underline serious concern at the activity of a Spanish Navy vessel in international waters off Gibraltar yesterday.

Last night the Prime Minister also raised Gibraltar with Prime Minister Rajoy in the margins of the EU Council meeting.  He made clear to Mr Rajoy that there must not be a repeat of last summer’s disruption.

Speaking before the summoning of the Spanish Ambassador, His Excellency Federico Trillo, the Minister for Europe, the Rt Hon David Lidington MP, said:

“I am extremely concerned by the actions of a Spanish Navy vessel which sought to redirect two commercial vessels heading to and from the Port of Gibraltar, incorrectly claiming they were in Spanish waters. The vessels were in international waters off Gibraltar, and the actions of the Spanish Navy vessel constitute a breach of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Freedom of navigation in international waters is a vital principle of international law. The two commercial vessels, under instructions from Gibraltar port authorities, were able to continue their business uninterrupted. But this represents a cynical attempt by the Spanish government to disrupt Gibraltar’s economy, in contravention of international Iaw.

I strongly condemn this provocative activity and urge the Spanish government to ensure that it is not repeated. Her Majesty’s Government will continue to take whatever action we consider necessary to uphold the interests of Gibraltar, its people, its security and economy.”

Jul 17 - Ambassador Summoned After Spanish Navy Attempts To Interfere With Gib Shipping

The Foreign Office has, for the fifth time since December 2011, summoned the Spanish Ambassador after an incident yesterday in which a Spanish Navy ship attempted to interfere with the passage of two commercial vessels that were travelling to and from Gibraltar. The incident is reported to have taken place in international waters near the Rock.
A statement from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office says that the decision to summon Federico Trillo (pictured) had been taken to “underline serious concern at the activity of a Spanish Navy vessel in international waters off Gibraltar yesterday.”
The Minister for Europe, David Lidington, said:
“I am extremely concerned by the actions of a Spanish Navy vessel which sought to redirect two commercial vessels heading to and from the Port of Gibraltar, incorrectly claiming they were in Spanish waters. UK summons Spanish envoy over 'provocative' Gibraltar naval activity

Thu Jul 17, 2014 4:15pm GMT

LONDON (Reuters) - The British government said on Thursday it had summoned Spain's ambassador to protest over what it described as "provocative" activity by the Spanish navy near the disputed territory of Gibraltar.
Britain, which runs the rocky outcrop off Spain's southern coast, said a Spanish navy vessel had tried to redirect two commercial vessels heading to and from the Port of Gibraltar on Wednesday on the grounds that they were in Spanish waters.
Britain disputed that, saying the vessels were in international waters.
"This represents a cynical attempt by the Spanish government to disrupt Gibraltar's economy, in contravention of international law," said David Lidington, Britain's minister for Europe. "I condemn this provocative activity and urge the Spanish government to ensure that it is not repeated."
The incident is the latest in a long line of diplomatic spats between Britain and Spain over Gibraltar, which Madrid ceded to Britain around 300 years ago, but that the Spanish authorities now want to reclaim.
It was the fifth time the Spanish ambassador in London has been publicly summoned by Britain over Gibraltar since the current Spanish government took office in December 2011.

So what now? Well once the Spanish Ambassador was summoned - guess what we had queues at the border for over 2.5 hours!

DID YOU KNOW THE SPANISH AMBASSADOR WAS SUMMONED BY UK GOVT?
WELL HERE IS WHAT SPAIN THINKS OF YOUR SUMMONS MR NEW FOREIGN MINISTER - THIS IS QUEUE AT 1847 ON THURSDAY 17th JULY

YOUR MOVE MR HAMMOND

The great thing about Spain continuing their bullying tactics and disrespecting now international waters is that they are showing all other countries the truth of the reasons we do not want them in the UN Security Council! If there was ever any doubt their behaviour is leaving a lot to be desired!
