More Bullying tactics by Spain - is this the acceptable behaviour of a Country in the European Union?

This is the testimony of a US citizen who works in Gibraltar, and is one of thousands of cross border workers who live in Spain and work in the British Overseas Territory. There are many cases like this every day, but not everyone is brave enough to stand up and be counted.

The Defenders of Gibraltar are always ready to listen and help in getting the truth of Spains bullying tactics out to the wider world.

The bullying Spanish Government will learn that it will always be held to account.
Gone are the days when people just put up with state sponsored harassment.

GUARDIA CIVIL INCURSION IN BGTWS

Spanish Guardia civil rio bergesga carried out an illegal incursion this afternoon approx 30-40 meters off eastern beach. Guardia civil guards carried out a documentations check on a pleasure boat as it was making its way to la linea.

 The above is NOT innocent passage! There is no need for them to enter and patrol our waters. Gibraltar has waters and they are British territorial Waters.

Perhaps if we acted more like Morocco we would not have Spanish para military behaving like this!

 How quiet spain are about how Morrocco shot two spanish fishermen from Melilla and how three others were from La Linea. Although they were luckier than the two from MELILLA as those two have been killed by the Moroccan patrol boat. How convenient when it is not in Spain's interest , they go into mute mode.

 They dont have mess around or try to bully or confront the Moroccan boat  the main reason they know that the Moroccans will shoot first and then talk later! 

we do not agree with being shot or anyone being killed but what we canot accept is the blatant disreagrd for our safety and protection of our people at sea!

Spanish patrol vessel VENCEDORA P 79 off the east side early this morning whilst a Royal Navy sub conducted a bay transfer.

So...here I was today reading an article about how the Irish Ambassador had complained to the Spanish Government on the treatment if its citizens by the GC at the frontier, when I come across the last sentence which said he met with its Gibraltar unit to complain....hmmm I thought...I knew they existed but never dreamed they would be an approachable unit. Well I was wrong... after doing a bit of digging, I even found out some contact details...and who they share their office with. Their tactics have become clearer. We need to up our game.

La Oficina de Gibraltar del Ministerio español de Asuntos Exteriores tendrá nuevo jefe a partir del mes de agosto. Se trata del diplomático Ignacio Mongé, que se encontraba actualmente destinado en Paris. Mongé, de 42 años es licenciado en Derecho y tiene una buena formación jurídica, algo que se considera importante para lidiar con las cuestiones relacionadas con la colonia británica. El puesto se encontraba prácticamente vacante desde hace varios meses, ya que su anterior titular Juan José Sanz, fue nombrado cónsul en Francfurt, aunque durante un breve periodo de tiempo se hizo cargo de la Oficina Aurora Mejía, que lo dejó tras ser nombrada embajadora en Bosnia. La vacante ha coincidido con unos meses muy movidos en las relaciones con el Peñón -incluidos los últimos incidentes pesqueros y el anuncio de la visita del Príncipe Eduardo de Inglaterra y su esposa-, y con lallegada del nuevo ministro, José Manuel García-Margallo, y del ministro principal gibraltareño, Fabian Picardo. Spanish Para Military add insult to injury - disrespecting what the Poppy is and what it stands for!

GUARDIA CIVIL DISRESPECTS THE POPPY AT THE FRONTIER:

I was approached by a British Citizen who lives in Gibraltar and he asked me if I could post his incident in this page.

This man walked from Spain to Gibraltar and the Guardia Civil asked the man to remove his Poppy. Obviously the man refused in which the Guardia Civil reacted with disgust and then asked him to move along.

To certain extent I can understand why Spain are pressuring us in the way the do, they are a country of facists and seem to know no better. However this action by a military officer is just repulsive. If only his ancestors had the balls and honour the brits and americans had in World War 2, maybe they would had been already living in a better and free Spain.

I wonder when the FCO lays a wreath on Remembrance Sunday, if the FCO will ponder whether they are really doing justice to those who made the ultimate sacrifice during WW2 to defeat Nazism and fascism.

Can the FCO seriously be satisfied that the vicious and malicious assaults by spain on Gibraltar are being adequately handled with their streams of notes of protest to spain? A nation with no notion of democracy and one that did not take part in WW2 and had to be bribed so that they would not join forces with Hitler’s army, being allowed to carry out unabated assaults on Gibraltar in a so called democratic Europe?

The inadequate protection of Gibraltar is an insult to democracy.

Shame on all those who look the other way.

 Unfortunately the message is strong but very true. People, workers, children, the elderly, the weak and infirmed are all suffering this bullying.

The world has got to act and the sooner the better - we all know from history if you leave and ignore a dictator a facists what happens!

Today we experienced a very uncomfortable situation when crossing the frontier. I had to go to take my dad to algeciras for chemo at 6 and was stopped by Guardia Civil and told us all to get off the car and stand in the front. My dad can hardly stand up on his feet so told him and he got a bit funny. Luckily he realised it was true and was allowed to stay sat in the car whilst my hubby 12 yr old son my mum and myself watched as he searched absolutely everything in the car including our handbags. After 20 mins he allowed us to get back in the car and leave. We felt like if we were terrorists or something. Inhuman. Biggest fear was that they searched the car without us seeing what he was doing as he forced us to stand at the front away from our car. Is this how its gonna be now? Its worse than the gestapo:(

So there are two events we will  be having - This Thursday a prayer vigil from the frontier to the Cathedral with some of our friends across the border.

The second and most important event is the demonstration in UK outside the Spanish Embassy. Poster below. 

We are not  begging Spain to stop we demand they do as it is inhumane! We are naming and shaming SPAIN's behaviour by their politicians and para military for all the world to see and know!

LET US ALL REMEMBER WHAT HISTORY HAS TAUGHT US AND NOT ALLOW A BIGGER AND MORE POWERFUL COUNTRY GET AWAY WITH THIS SORT OF BULLYING!
