European Union is nothing but a cowardly Organisation and a farce! Diplomacy at its worst!

European Union is nothing but a cowardly Organisation and a farce! Diplomacy at its worst!

Friday was a black day for Gibraltar! It was the day that the European Union proved to  be nothing but a farce! Don't get me wrong I knew from the start that their decision would not be good for Gibraltar.
Why? Simple when a group wants to investigate issues reported such as the bullying tactics by Spain at the border - do you really think it is wise to let the bully know you are coming and when?
We have all been to school and many of us have either been bullied, seen a bully at work or been the actual bully! So we all know when a bully will behave and why! You do not have to  be a genius we know if you tell a bully his parents, or teacher or head master are coming to see how  he behaves - suddenly he becomes the helper, the carer and instant hard worker!
So hence when the European Commission made the date of their visit known to Spain I knew there would be no queues and no rudeness etc.
The worst thing is that this investigation group even refused to speak to those affected and to the non government organisations like Defenders of Gibraltar, Voice of Gibraltar, and others.
So with the date known, not only was the bully on best behaviour but also the refusal to speak to those affected the thousands of cross frontier workers - what other result could have been acheved other than what has been announced!

Gibraltar border checks legal, says European Commission

CHECKS at the Spain-Gibraltar border are legal, according to a new ruling by the European Commission (EC).

The EC has been dragged into the long-running dispute between the countries after Spain introduced increasingly draconian checks on vehicles.
The widespread travel disruption caused by vehicle searches led to a diplomatic standoff, with the UK requesting an EC investigation.
But the EC has ruled the checks are within EU law.
The Gibraltar Government questioned the ruling, saying “This finding flies in the face of the reality being experienced by commuters and travelers and will serve only to encourage the sort of bullying tactics that have characterised the past four months at the frontier.”
It also wrote to both countries with advice on how to avoid crossing delays while also tackling cross-border issues – including smuggling and organised crime – which Spain claims drove its decision to up security levels.
A Foreign Office official said, “We welcome the commission’s recommendations that the Spanish government should take measures to ensure that the Gibraltar-Spain border functions efficiently, and the commission’s commitment to review progress against their recommendations in six months.”
The EC also said the border issue was, “challenging, in view of the heavy traffic volumes in a relatively confined space and the increase in tobacco smuggling into Spain”.

FCO Press Release: Minister for Europe welcomes Commission’s statement on Gibraltar-Spain border

Minister for Europe says European Commission is “making strong recommendations to the Spanish government to improve the situation” in Gibraltar.
David Lidington, the Minister for Europe, has today welcomed the European Commission’s announcement of clear recommendations for Spain to improve the functioning of the Gibraltar-Spain border and follow up within six months. The Minister said:
“Unacceptable border delays of up to four hours continue to impact on peoples’ lives in and around Gibraltar. It is right that the Commission is making strong recommendations to the Spanish government to improve the situation, and I welcome their commitment to follow up within six months. We and the Government of Gibraltar have said for years that there are simple measures Spain could and should take, such as increasing the number of lanes and resources at the border, to improve border functioning. I fully expect the Spanish government to act on Commission’s recommendations.

“The fact that the Commission has hinted at a possible future visit further demonstrates their ongoing concern. It is unsurprising that the Commission found insufficient evidence that Spain is breaking EU law, as the Spanish checks were significantly reduced during the Commission’s visit. We remain confident that the Spanish government has acted – and continues to act – unlawfully, through introducing disproportionate and politically motivated checks at the Gibraltar-Spain border. And we will continue to provide evidence of that to the Commission.”

The reality is that an unjust decision has been made that allows a bigger country like SPAIN to inflict pain and suffering to people. Causing inhumane queues on purose is just not acceptable! But somehow in the EU commission's understanding of free movement and Human rights they have made a decision that it is legal?

Is it a wonder then that other countries have no respect for Human Rights, United Nations, Nato or EU opinions or decisions?

The fact is that the team that came over do not and have not and will not ever understand the issue and what suffering is going on. The reason is simply because they do not live or work in Gibraltar or Spain!

To them they cannot fathom the problem - they cannot see and as such cannot understand! By refusing to meet with cross border workers, citizens who live in Gibraltar or Spain the outcome was plain to see what it would be. However, we all still had hope that the blind would see and the deaf would hear due to the amount of proof collected over 18 months by many not just the Defenders of Gibraltar but supporters worldwide!

In all honesty if you have Spanish Guardia Civils informing the people that it is not their fault and that it is the Government in Madrid that are pressuring them to cause the queues on purpose - what other evidence is stronger than that! There are hundreds of photos that show the inhumane length and time of the queues! One picture speaks more than thousands of words!

The fact that Spain cause queues into Gibraltar and out of Gibraltar for cars, bicycles, motorbikes and the latest pedestrians is beyond belief! The fact they do not use the green lane or the red lane is adding insult to injury!

They did this before the EU working group visit - can  you imagine what will happen ow that they have been told they are doing no wrong?

All I can say publicly and with a very sad heart is "SHAME ON YOU EU!"

The whole point of the group to investigate was to investigate - that is gather all the information from people and groups from both sides - leaving out the politicians but listening to the people who suffer it everyday!

Itis a sad truth that unfortunately until such a day as a death is caused - no one will have the brave and courageous attitude to stand up to the EU and Spain and tell them and the world - you are wrong and cannot bully people in this way!

No where is it acceptable to cause queues on purpose with the sole purpose to suffocate a people and their economy!

ALLOW TO CLARIFY FOR ALL READERS ACROSS THE WORLD TAT READ OUR BLOG - NEVER WILL GIBRALTAR SURRENDER!

SPAIN IS NOT A DEMOCRACY WHEN THEY TREAT PEOPLE IN THIS WAY - SPAIN IS NOT A DEMOCRACY AS LONG AS THEIR FASCISM KEEPS GROWING!

A COUNTRY CANNOT SERVE TWO MASTERS - THEY HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE SOON - DEMOCRACY OR FASCISM!

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE YOU TELL ME?
