Gibraltar is "Piggy in the middle"

Gibraltar is "Piggy in the middle"

More incursions in our waters - more queues and more false attacks is all that we experience each and everyday and still our voice is not heard in UK!

Below is a write up from our Chariman that clearly describes our Frustrations!

VAMO JUGAR PIGGY IN THE MIDDLE!
I dont know about you, but when I was a little boy there was a game which my friends and I would play quite often. The side effect of this game was that it was guaranteed to annoy you completely or make you laugh in hysterics depending in which position you played. That game was 'piggy in the middle'.

The game would almost always end up in the same way, as the person in the middle ends up physically exhausted and has to resort to being very strategic and cunning to get the ball. It didn't happen all the time but when the 'piggy' did get the ball it felt like a huge victory for the person in the middle.

The nature of the game, is such that if your close friends wanted to, they could give you a sneaky hand if you are in the middle, so in a way its an unfair but funny game.

The problem is, if you are the piggy, it is not funny in the slightest.

So... why do I bring this up you might say? Well, it has become increasingly clear that Gibraltar has been stuck as the piggy in the middle for a long time, in a drawn out game which also involves the UN, EU, UK and Spain (all of which seem unwilling to cut us a break and hand us the ball for a while). What else do you expect when we are up against the following players:

1) Spain, the ever eternal bully of our existence, whose main mission is to wear us down and trip us up at any opportunity. Wants us to give in and claim they are the victors.

2) UK whose overriding priority is to maintain good relations with the bully who is an EU and NATO partner. Follows a clear policy of appeasement . Would rather not play but has to satisfy the bully. Wants to give us a break but would strain relations.

3) EU, created to foster peace and goodwill in Europe following two world wars and to increase trade, now appears to have an aim of creating a federal super state. Gibraltar is a problem which gets in the way of that aim. They do not want to have to get involved and tackle the Spanish bully and least of all side with Britain. Tells them to sort it out between themselves and tends to whistle whilst looking the other way. Funnily enough seems keener to get involved in other nations problems around the world. Likes to admire the scenery rather than get directly involved in the game.

4) The UN - well what can I say? Since its creation there have been countless wars, acts of genocide, slowness to act and at times complete ignorance or unwillingness to tackle oppression. The UN it seems is going the way of the league of nations. It is fast becoming an irrelevant institution and tends to have naps during the game. Very sad that the very institution which guarantees our rights are party to the situation which denies us those rights.

This game of piggy in the middle has been going on for way too long now. We have been in the middle for way too long. We are tired, thirsty and we need a break. The fact is we need to fight our way out of this situation with cunning and strategy. We are natural fighters (and sportsmen) so even though we are at a clear disadvantage I am certain we will win this. The ore fed into the fire feels the searing heat and feels pain - the tempered steel blade that emerges looks back and realises that it needed it. If only Spain knew that its actions only makes us stronger in the long run.

The whole situation is only because we as a people are not and will never choose to be Spanish or ever agree to joint sovereignty!

So we urge all of you people out there would you put up with this constant game? I doubt it!
