European Union fails Gibraltar and breaks the Cordoba Agreement!

European Union fails Gibraltar and breaks the Cordoba Agreement!

Once again the European Union cast aside the rights of the Gibraltarians because of a bigger country called Spain who has managed with all bullying tactics available to convince the EU MEPS to vote against Gibraltar!

What the United Kingdom should do now is STOP paying Spanish Pensions as the European Union has seen fit to break the Cordoba Agreement.

Today si a very sad day for the Human Rights of all Gibraltarians! It means Gibraltar’s airport has now been excluded from safety and regulation measures which its been part of since 2006 Cordoba Agreement. The European Single Sky legislation coordinates air traffic control around Europe, and exclusion from it could impact Gibraltar’s ability to liaise with facilities in nearby airports.!

So Shame on the European Union for once again giving in to t he bully that Spain is and keeps on proving to be!

Gibraltar has been excluded from the new European Single Sky legislation following a majority vote in the European Parliament this morning.
Spanish Partido Popular MEPs have succeeded in introducing amendments which delete all reference to the Cordoba agreement.
355 MEPs from across Europe voted in favour of Gibraltar’s exclusion, with only 260 against. It means Gibraltar’s airport has now been excluded from safety and regulation measures which its been part of since 2006 Cordoba Agreement. The European Single Sky legislation coordinates air traffic control around Europe, and exclusion from it could impact Gibraltar’s ability to liaise with facilities in nearby airports.
The UK could, technically, now lobby the European Union Council to reverse this decision, and re-introduce the Cordoba Agreement into the legislation.
South West Lib Dem MEP, Sir Graham Watson, who was yesterday campaigning in favour of Gibraltar by writing to MEPs, said the result of the vote was disappointing. He said the departure of the UK Conservatives from the Europe-wide People’s Party group has affected their ability to campaign and lobby on behalf of Gibraltar.

So what should be next?
We should all  be lobbying the UK Government and the Foreign Office to put right this wrong done to us!

Show Spain that since they have broken the Cordoba agreement - UK will now not pay any pensions which was part of the Cordoba agreement - SPAIN cannot  have it both ways!

We all need to rise up and be heard! We MUST not take this sitting down!
