Gibraltar Enters UEFA as 54th Member! On the 24th May 2013

Gibraltar Enters UEFA as 54th Member!

Yes we did it! Gibraltar got accepted into the UEFA family as the 54th member! What emotion what excitement  Gibraltar made history finally having one of our rights accepted and not denied again!

Somehow we got 51/53 votes accepting us into UEFA it was brilliant. What a triumph for our country for our hard working people! Many fought and never got to see this day but we have and now our children's children will enjoy the fruit of many people's hard work!

What a victory! There are not enough words that could describe the emotion - the accomplishment we all feel! It is like a dream and we will wake up but no it is true! The politics was left out of Sport and we have seen JUSTICE at long last for us the People of Gibraltar!

Thank you UEFA for welcoming us into the big family of UEFA!

For once politics did not take priority over our rights and justice was served!

Tribute as given by an avid supporter

Today it's about Gibraltar PLC not about any specific individual. There are too many people to mention on one single thread in respect of what this really means for football in Gibraltar but there are some crucial names who deserve special credit. I would like to thank firstly Henry Coelho and the Maverick team, I think judging by the comments on the different groups people are not aware how crucial your role in achieving the ultimate goal you guys are top class and your professionalism has shone throughout. Secondly I would like to congratulate Andrew Perera for having the vision back in 1999 in actually submitting our initial application this initiative led to today's historical moment, thirdly Joey Núñez and his team for years you fought in adverse conditions until you called it a day, fourthly Gareth Latin and his team for taking over the baton and leading us to this momentous occasion, special mention to Dennis Beiso, whose role as UEFA Liason Officer was crucial in getting the support of all the members who have today voted in favour of our application, fifth comes the turn of successive Governments without whose support today would not have been a reality and lastly the man who for me has played the most important role by holding all the pieces of the jigsaw together and who has prevailed in the most adverse of conditions, Michael Llamas QC. Lets savour the occasion and rest assured that the hard work starts now let's make our nation a proud and respected member of the UEFA family.

Please note that we will be celebrating this more on Friday 31st May as our Government will now organise the best way to celebrate!

Will Gibraltar be allowed to enter UEFA?

Will Gibraltar be allowed to enter UEFA?

Well the day has finally come and we th epeople of Gibraltar are hoping, praying, crossing our fingers and toes that for once in our lives POLITICS will not be mixed with SPORTS!

We hope that for once the 53 countries involved in the UEFA voting on membership entrance will know more about Gibraltar - our history-  our football - our people!

Knowing about us that way will then show all these countries that Gibraltar has a right to enter UEFA.

Unfortunately our next door neighbour who is constantly finding ways to bully us - mixes politics with sports etc can stop or veto somehow our entrance - even though according to UEFA rules and regulations there is no reason why Gibraltar cannot be a part of the UEFA family like Andorra,

So I hope like many in Gibraltar that all the UEFA "family" 53 countries will open up and embrace us with a great Welcome to the family of UEFA at last!

Bowever, if we do  not get in this time round we will continue to try and try until our right is not denied.

Numerous ILLEGAL Incursions in British Gibraltar territorial Waters!

Numerous ILLEGAL Incursions in British Gibraltar territorial Waters!

Once again we are having incursions and no actions! The UK Government are blatantly failing I Defending the people of Gibraltar! No matter how many warnings, diplomatic measures and the call for restraint! It  is very clear to everyone that not only is the non-action making a mockery of our Legal British Justice but worse still the fact that the UK Government and the “pen pushers” of the FCO are doing nothing to Protect the integrity of our waters and as such are failing in their duty to Gibraltar!

Not even the mention of the promise from OUR Queen the Government and the FCO in UK are even disregarding the promise made by Her Majesty! So that shows us more and more the reality of WORDS means nothing without the action!

What do we want or expect from the UK Government, FCO and yes our Governor? We expect the action that we all know would be taken if this were to happen to the Falklands – let us please stop kidding around and playing the childish game of tennis and all the so called smoke and screens!
We the people of Gibraltar want all those in power to start doing their job – stop telling the Royal Navy and our RGP not to arrest and to have restraint! We want action!

The UK Government and the FCO are trying to make us believe these incursions by Spanish Paramilitary and lately their Navy is all due to the so called “Fishing Issue” come on people wake up! We all know the truth and leave it every day in Gibraltar – we the people of Gibraltar know that the whole SAGA is about the sovereignty of our British Gibraltar Territorial Waters! We have been suffering all this and much more for over 300 years!

Appeasement to Spain is not working – we keep giving or restraining our action and they keep bullying!

I am absolutely sure that if these armed para military from a larger country were doing this to your country you would not allow it – so why is UK, FCO and even the EU making us put up with these incursions? Why are other EU countries not support the reality that SPAIN is a EU BULLY – no need to have a war with weapons they are getting away with the simple actions that NO OTHER COUNTRY WOULD PUT UP WITH!

GC vessel at 8am today makes a point of cruising along BGTW, 500 metres off the moles. As she reaches North/Detach Moles entrance she changes course, opening up as she heads to Spanish waters. But today as she does so, the Gibraltar Services Police RHIB heads for her and pursues until the GC vessel reaches Spanish waters. The GSP vessel then returns to Gib harbour

GUARDIA CIVIL INCURSION AS HMS ENTERPRISE PATROLS
By GBC

The Convent has confirmed an incursion into British Gibraltar Territorial Waters by the Guardia Civil’s Rio Pas on Tuesday at approximately 6pm.

The incident coincided with the departure of HMS Enterprise, which conducted a security patrol before leaving. The survey vessel had conducted work in the waters around the Eastern Anchorage.

The Guardia Civil vessel was challenged by the Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron in the waters west of the runway. Warnings were read before the Guardia Civil made off, motoring out of British Gibraltar Territorial Waters via the south.

A Convent spokesperson has confirmed that London will be informed and another diplomatic protest will be made in Madrid.

21st May
Today Guardia Civil has on numerous occasions blatantly exercised its jurisdiction on British Gibraltar Territorial Waters in clear view and with ESCORT from the Royal Gibraltar Police. Furthermore their Jurisdiction included the exercise of rightful passage to inspect one of the Massive Cruise liners in Port Today. All under the watchful eye of the RGP.

Enough please....surely this is not innocent passage ? How come the FO has so low number of incursions in their books if we see this daily and have enough photos to prove this?

At 10.30, Sun 19 May 2013 Rio Cedena was spotted patrolling BGTW less than 100 metres off our Moles and then coming to a stop to inspect a Spanish fishing boat that was making its way into the Western Approaches.
This action by the GC is in breach of innocent passage but unfortunately Navy Ops appear to have missed it however here is the photographic evidence for all to see.

MESSAGE IS VERY CLEAR AS FROM PHOTO BELOW FROM TREVOR
BICKERSTAFF!

When will UK Government - FCO and our Governor do their DUTY?
